Do you have a passion for supporting children and families and helping young people overcome barriers to learning?

Are you an empathetic, approachable, and dedicated individual who can build strong relationships with parents, carers, and children while providing practical and emotional support?

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint a permanent Family Support Worker from September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine and lasting difference to the lives of children and families. You will work closely with pupils, parents, carers, school staff, and external professionals to provide early intervention, strengthen family engagement, and help children thrive both in school and at home.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing one-to-one support to children and families who may require additional help
  • Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and carers
  • Supporting families with issues affecting attendance, punctuality, behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement
  • Working with parents and carers to identify concerns and develop practical strategies to support their children
  • Supporting pupils experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties
  • Helping families access appropriate local services, resources, and additional support
  • Working closely with the school's pastoral, safeguarding, SEND, and leadership teams
  • Supporting early intervention and identifying concerns before they escalate
  • Monitoring pupil and family progress and maintaining accurate records
  • Contributing to safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Encouraging strong and positive relationships between home and school
  • Helping create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child can succeed

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children, families, parents/carers, or vulnerable individuals
  • Is caring, patient, approachable, and able to build relationships based on trust
  • Understands the importance of early intervention and family engagement
  • Has experience within a primary school, education, family support, youth work, social care, or a similar setting
  • Is confident communicating with parents and carers from a range of backgrounds
  • Can work sensitively and professionally with families experiencing challenging circumstances
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Is organised, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a wider team
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one

What's on Offer:

  • Permanent, full-time Family Support Worker position
  • Start date of September 2026
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • The opportunity to build long-term relationships with children and families
  • A supportive and welcoming primary school environment
  • Access to over 2,500 accredited CPD courses through The National College
  • Training covering safeguarding, SEND, trauma-informed practice, behaviour, mental health, and child development
  • Ongoing professional development and opportunities to progress
  • Support from an experienced education consultancy team
  • The opportunity to play a key role in improving outcomes for children and families

Make a Lasting Difference

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in family support, pastoral care, education, youth work, social care, or community services who is passionate about early intervention and supporting children to reach their full potential.

If you are ready to build strong relationships, work collaboratively with families and professionals, and make a lasting difference to the lives of primary-aged children, we would love to hear from you.
