About the Home

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, specialist residential care home in Worthing that supports 28 residents living with a range of dementia and cognitive conditions, including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Schizophrenia.

This small, homely service is dedicated to providing outstanding person-centred care in a warm and supportive environment where residents are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

The home places great importance on creating a stimulating and engaging environment, with meaningful activities designed to promote independence, social interaction, confidence and overall wellbeing.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Activities Co-ordinator to join the team.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering a varied programme of meaningful activities tailored to residents' individual interests, abilities and needs. You will play an important role in creating opportunities for residents to socialise, stay active, develop interests and enjoy a fulfilling daily routine.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is creative, caring and passionate about improving the quality of life of older people, particularly those living with dementia and other cognitive conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a varied programme of meaningful activities for residents.
  • Develop activities around residents' individual interests, hobbies, abilities and preferences.
  • Organise group and one-to-one activities to encourage social interaction and engagement.
  • Support residents to maintain existing hobbies and interests while introducing new activities.
  • Organise activities including arts and crafts, music, games, reminiscence, gardening, exercise and social events.
  • Encourage residents to participate while respecting their individual choices and independence.
  • Support special occasions, celebrations, outings and community activities where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships with residents and their families.
  • Work closely with the care team to ensure activities support residents' individual care and wellbeing needs.
  • Maintain records of activities and resident participation where required.

About You

  • Previous experience in an Activities Co-ordinator is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with older people and supporting their wellbeing.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and able to come up with engaging activity ideas.
  • Experience working with people living with dementia or cognitive conditions is advantageous.
  • Friendly, patient and compassionate with excellent communication skills.
  • Well organised and able to plan and coordinate a varied activities programme.
  • Confident working both independently and as part of a wider care team.
  • Able to encourage participation while respecting each resident's individual choices and preferences.

Why Apply?

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a friendly, specialist residential care home where you'll play an important role in helping residents enjoy a meaningful, active and fulfilling lifestyle.

You will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with residents, develop activities around their individual interests and make a genuine difference to their day-to-day wellbeing and quality of life.
