  • Job Title: Senior Children s Residential Support Worker
  • Home Type: 6 Bedded EBD home (4 YPs) therapeutic PACE approach
  • Location: Wombourne, WV5
  • Overall package: £34,086.60 - £37,543.80 p/a (based on 6-8 sleep-ins per month)
  • Enhanced Overtime: +£2 per hour!
  • Christmas bonus of up to £600 in your November payslip!
  • Private Healthcare via AXA
  • Contract: Full time, sleeps required
  • Shift pattern: 7:30-23:00, 2 on 4 off, 10x15.5hr shifts per month

Who will you be working for?

Join an Good in all areas Ofsted rated, 6 Bedded SEMH Children s Home that has second-to-none outcomes for young people! This gorgeous home resides in the beautiful, rural, and affluent village of Wombourne, on a large 5.5-acre plot of land. Home to four young people aged 13-17, and an incredibly hard-working therapy-dog-in-training! The young people greatly enjoy taking walks around country National Trust parks, and days out at theme parks with their Merlin Passes.

The organisation is family-run and directed by an incredibly experienced Clinical Psychologist with expertise in working with young people that have experienced severe trauma, neglect, and neurodiversity. She is also the home s Responsible Individual and is present in the home on a daily basis. The children have personalised bedrooms and a fantastic garden space to enjoy. The leaders in the home are proactive in supporting the young people to make progress with their education and YPs also enjoy planning and cooking meals with staff! Children are always involved in decision making around their care and their interests and rarely require physical intervention due to the strength of the therapeutic training employed.

The Package & Benefits:

  • Starting Pay: £15.75 p/h (Level 3/4) - £16.75 p/h (Level 5) with the potential for increase up to £17 p/h, plus £66.55 per sleep-in
  • Estimated package: Earn £35,683.80 - £37,543.80 per annum, based on 8 sleep-ins per month (up to £38k as a high performer)
  • Enhanced Overtime Rate: An additional +£2 per hour after 12 shifts worked

What Will The Role Entail?

As a Senior Children s Residential Support Worker, you will be the backbone of the staff team whilst on shift. You will pull from your experience working in children s homes to manage and lead your passionate team to ensure smooth operation of the home and second-to-none delivery of care for young people.

The Successful Senior Children s Residential Support Worker Candidate Will Excel At:

  • Communicating effectively with young people, your colleagues, families, and external professionals. Shift-leading, problem-solving, and being calm under pressure is vital for a Senior.
  • Key-working with young people, considering their thoughts, wishes, and feelings, promoting life skills and independence, encouraging them to engage in education, activities, and hobbies. Most importantly, readying them for adult life when they leave care.
  • Developing and reviewing Ofsted required paperwork such as care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments, to name a few.
  • Following Ofsted s regulations related to Quality Standards and understanding safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Understanding the operations of the home regarding Health and Safety, medication administration, cleanliness and finances.

Requirements for the Senior Children s Residential Support Worker role:

  • 2+ years experience working specifically within a children s home environment
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
  • Flexibility to carry out the shift pattern described at the top of the advert, including sleep-ins
  • A genuine passion for supporting the well-being and healthy development of young people
