Domestic Abuse Support Worker - Male Victims

A fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and motivated Domestic Abuse Support Worker with experience of supporting vulnerable people, managing caseloads and working within safeguarding, risk management and multi-agency settings.

This role is known internally as a Domestic Abuse Advocate (Male Victims)

SALARY: £24,784 to £26,872 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Sandwell / Wolverhampton, West Midlands (community-based and accommodation support)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm

JOB OVERVIEW

An established charity delivering specialist abuse support services has a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate, motivated and resilient Domestic Abuse Support Worker to provide frontline support to male victims of domestic abuse and interpersonal violence.

Working as the Domestic Abuse Support Worker you will provide trauma-informed, person-centred support to individuals affected by domestic abuse, intimate partner abuse, familial abuse, sexual violence, stalking and honour-based abuse.

As the Domestic Abuse Support Worker you will manage a caseload of individuals whose needs fall within standard and medium assessed risk levels, completing risk and needs assessments, developing tailored support plans, providing advocacy and delivering practical and emotional support across community and accommodation-based settings.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Domestic Abuse Support Worker will include:

  • Specialist Support: Provide trauma-informed, person-centred support to male victims of domestic abuse and interpersonal violence across community and safe accommodation settings
  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of standard and medium-risk clients, completing risk and needs assessments, safety plans and support plans
  • Accommodation Support: Provide floating support in safe accommodation, including housing applications, tenancy sustainment and independent living skills
  • Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of clients, helping them access appropriate services, criminal and civil justice support, housing, safeguarding and wellbeing support
  • Interventions: Deliver one-to-one, peer and group interventions, including structured tools such as the Respect Toolkit
  • Partnership Working: Work with statutory and voluntary agencies, attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to safeguarding processes
  • Records and Compliance: Maintain accurate, confidential case records in line with organisational, contractual, safeguarding and data protection requirements
  • Awareness Raising: Support engagement activities that raise awareness of abuse against men, healthy relationships and barriers to accessing support

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in a related field
  • Relevant experience in a related frontline support, advocacy, safeguarding, domestic abuse, housing, social care, charity or community-based role
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or children, including identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns
  • Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse in a professional capacity
  • Experience of managing a caseload, completing risk assessments and delivering planned support
  • Experience of working within a multi-agency environment and liaising with external professionals
  • Experience of delivering structured interventions or behaviour change programmes, such as the Respect Toolkit or similar
  • Good understanding of domestic abuse, risk management, trauma-informed practice and the barriers male victims may face when accessing support
  • Strong communication, advocacy, organisation and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute positively as part of a team
  • Full driving licence with willingness to use own vehicle
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of managing complex casework involving mental health, substance use, trauma or crisis intervention
  • Experience of facilitating peer or group work sessions
  • Experience of working within a formal contracting environment and achieving performance targets
  • Experience of preparing reports for formal settings such as case conferences or court
  • Experience of providing floating support or supporting individuals within safe or supported accommodation
  • Experience of working with male victims of domestic abuse or interpersonal violence
