SEMH Support Worker - Taunton (Term Time Only)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Support Worker to join a specialist education setting in the Taunton area from 2nd November 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and making a genuine difference in their educational journey.
Working closely with students who may display challenging behaviours or require additional emotional support, you will play a key role in helping them engage positively with learning, develop coping strategies, and achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils.
- Promoting emotional regulation, resilience and self-esteem.
- Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams.
- Encouraging attendance, engagement and participation in lessons.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Calm, patient and resilient approach in challenging situations.
- Background in education, youth work, support work, residential care, sports coaching, mental health support or similar is desirable.
- Passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
