Key Responsibilities:
As a Children's Support Worker based in Merthyr Tydfil, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting children and young people with their daily activities, interests, and development.
- Promoting independence and wellbeing through personalised care and support.
- Attending trips, holidays, and weekend activities to enhance social skills and experiences.
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of children by following care plans and safeguarding guidelines.
- Providing emotional and practical support to young people, especially during challenging situations.
- Assisting with behaviour management and incident minimisation, including restraint training if qualified.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with children and young people to foster a supportive environment.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Children's Support Worker, you will need:
- A minimum of 6 months' experience working with children or within a social care setting.
- Restraint training certification (or willingness to undergo training).
- A current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
- A valid UK Driving Licence.
- Understanding of trauma, homelessness, domestic abuse, and their impacts on young people.
- An empathetic, resilient, and caring nature with excellent relationship-building skills.
- The right to work in the UK.
