Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist
An outstanding specialist educational setting in West London is seeking a motivated, flexible and innovative Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join its friendly and supportive Therapy Team.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists from other disciplines to promote pupils' holistic development, independence and functional skills. The role offers the opportunity to deliver evidence-based interventions across a range of areas, including feeding, speech, language, social communication and Augmentative & Alternative Communication.
The therapist will play an important role in embedding Speech and Language Therapy strategies throughout the school environment, helping pupils access their learning and develop communication skills across their daily routines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Speech and Language Therapy within a specialist educational setting.
- Assess pupils' communication needs and develop appropriate therapy programmes.
- Support interventions at universal, targeted and specialist levels.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, parents and carers to integrate therapy goals into pupils' education.
- Contribute to clinical assessment, treatment planning and implementation of therapy programmes.
- Use standardised assessments and clinical observation to inform clinical decision-making.
- Promote positive behaviour and communication within a nurturing environment.
- Embed therapeutic strategies across pupils' school and home routines where appropriate.
- Maintain high professional and clinical standards in line with evidence-based practice.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and relevant professional registration.
- Experience or knowledge of clinical assessment and treatment planning.
- An understanding of speech, language, communication and/or AAC interventions.
- Confidence working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, parents and carers.
- A flexible, enthusiastic and independent approach to their work.
