CQC Registered Day Service Manager - Learning Disabilities

Apply Now
You will join the business before the service becomes operational and play a key role in turning the concept into a fully functioning, high-quality and CQC-compliant service.

The Hub will provide adults with Learning disabilities, with the opportunities to develop independence, confidence, life skills, social connections, wellbeing and community participation.

They want to move away from the traditional concept of a "day centre". And the focus will be on meaningful activity, individual outcomes, skills development and community inclusion, helping the people we support to learn, develop, connect, contribute and achieve.

This is an exciting opportunity for a manager who wants to have a genuine influence over how a new service is designed and delivered.

About the Role: Working closely with the Directors and Senior Management Team, you will lead the development and mobilisation of the service from concept through to opening and beyond.

Before the service becomes operational, you will be involved in:

  • Developing the service vision, values and operating model.

  • Leading the mobilisation and implementation plan.

  • Supporting and coordinating the CQC registration process.

  • Developing policies, procedures, systems and quality frameworks.

  • Establishing referral, assessment, admission and transition processes.

  • Developing person-centred support and outcome frameworks.

  • Building relationships with families, commissioners, social workers, health professionals and community organisations.

  • Developing the staffing structure, workforce plan, recruitment and training programme.

  • Establishing safeguarding, risk management, governance and quality assurance systems.

  • Developing meaningful activity, life skills, vocational and community participation opportunities.

  • Preparing the service, premises, staff and systems for a successful opening.

Once operational, you will have overall responsibility for the safe, effective, compliant and financially sustainable day-to-day management of the Hub and, subject to CQC approval, will become the Registered Manager.

You will lead the staff team, oversee quality and safeguarding, manage referrals and admissions, ensure safe staffing, develop partnerships and contribute to the continued growth and development of the service.

We are looking for someone who understands that excellent social care is about much more than compliance. You will be passionate about creating a service where people achieve meaningful outcomes rather than simply attending a centre.

What we are looking for: We are looking for an experienced adult social care manager who is confident working autonomously, takes ownership and enjoys building services from the ground up.

You should have a strong understanding of CQC, safeguarding, risk management, quality assurance and person-centred support, together with the leadership skills required to build a positive and accountable team culture.

Experience of autism, learning disabilities, complex needs, community-based services, day opportunities, supported learning or vocational programmes would be highly beneficial.

Essential Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years' management experience within adult social care.

  • Experience working within a CQC-regulated environment.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care or equivalent.

  • Experience managing and leading staff teams.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and quality assurance.

  • Good understanding of CQC regulatory requirements.

  • Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures.

  • Experience undertaking audits and quality monitoring.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of a new service.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with families, professionals and external organisations.

  • Eligibility and suitability to apply for CQC Registered Manager status.

  • Commitment to improving the lives of adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.

  • Flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of the service.

  • Ability to travel between locations as required.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

  • Ability to participate in an on-call rota alongside senior managers.

Desirable Experience:
  • Autism and/or learning disabilities.

  • SEN/SEND or specialist education.

  • Day opportunities or community-based services.

  • Complex needs.

  • Person-centred planning.

  • Transition services for young people moving into adulthood.

  • Supported learning environments.

  • Vocational, employability or skills development programmes.

  • Service mobilisation or opening a new care service.

  • Previous involvement in CQC registration.

  • Developing services from concept through to operational delivery.

  • Local authority commissioning and partnership working with education and health professionals.

Why Join them? This is an opportunity to join a brand-new service at the very beginning and help shape its future.

You will have genuine input into the service model, culture, systems, team and programmes we develop. You will work closely with the Directors and have the opportunity to build something that is innovative, person-centred and focused on meaningful outcomes.

If you are interested in the above Registered Day Service Manager vacancy, please contact Luke Bown at Domus Recruitment.

As part of our continual pursuit of quality candidates we appreciate and reward candidate recommendations from you if we successfully secure them a position. We will reward you with 300 if you recommend a new candidate to us who is not already registered and we secure them a role for a minimum of 1 month.
