Diamond Search Recruitment is delighted to be representing a newly established children s residential care provider in the appointment of an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager. The home is a two bed EBD provision.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation with ambitious plans to provide outstanding care, support and opportunities for children and young people.

Our client is supported by an experienced Responsible Individual with a strong background in the care sector, alongside robust financial and legal support. The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to support the effective day-to-day management of the home and ensure children and young people receive consistently high standards of care.

You will play a key role in supporting the home to achieve and maintain an Ofsted rating of Good or Outstanding, while ensuring safeguarding, wellbeing, care and development remain at the heart of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in achieving and maintaining an Ofsted rating of Good or Outstanding.

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of the home's operations, utilising the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF) and internal auditing processes.

  • Provide supervision, support and direction to staff.

  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating integrity, optimism, hope, determination and compassion.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective staff deployment at all times.

  • Ensure staffing arrangements are consistent with the home's Statement of Purpose and individual risk management plans.

  • Support the Registered Manager with the operational management of the home.

  • Ensure the physical and emotional needs of children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted.

  • Ensure care, education and risk management plans are implemented effectively.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children's Homes Regulations (England) 2015, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, local authority procedures and company policies.

  • Monitor and improve performance to ensure consistently high standards of care.

  • Support the development of an effective, motivated and high-performing team.

  • Make informed decisions, provide clear direction and lead by example.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is resilient, energetic, organised and passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working within children's residential care.

  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a children's residential setting.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and safeguarding requirements.

  • The ability to manage staff deployment, allocate duties and provide effective day-to-day supervision.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • The confidence to communicate effectively with children and young people, families, staff, professionals and external stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

  • The ability to manage, monitor and improve performance.

  • The ability to deal effectively with challenging situations and conflict.

  • Excellent organisational skills and a high level of resilience.

  • A Level 4 Diploma in Leadership & Management, or willingness to work towards the qualification.

  • Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification, or willingness to work towards it.

  • A willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
