Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £14.00 £15.50 per hour, depending on experience
Home: Brand-new 3-bed EBD children s home
We are recruiting an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader for a brand-new three-bed children s home in Milton Keynes.
The home will support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and already has an excellent Registered Manager in post. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the culture of a new service and build a safe, positive and nurturing environment from the outset.
The role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Lead and support the staff team during shifts
- Provide high-quality, child-centred care
- Build meaningful and consistent relationships with the children
- Act as a positive role model for both children and colleagues
- Support the Registered Manager with the smooth running of the home
- Allocate tasks and provide guidance to less-experienced team members
- Complete and oversee records, handovers and incident reports
- Ensure care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures are followed
- Support children with education, activities, appointments and independence skills
- Respond confidently and calmly to challenging behaviour
- Contribute to team meetings, supervisions and service development
What we re looking for
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Experience working within a children s residential care setting
- Previous senior or shift-leading experience
- A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, or a commitment to completing it
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care
- The confidence to lead shifts and make appropriate decisions
- A calm, resilient and compassionate approach
- Strong communication and record-keeping skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins
