SEN Casework Support Officer

We Do Social Work Recruitment

We Do Social Work Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced SEN Casework Support Officer to join a specialist SEN service. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and customer-focused professional with experience of working with statutory processes, education services and sensitive casework.

The Role

As an SEN Casework Support Officer, you will provide administrative and casework support across the SEN service, helping to ensure statutory processes are delivered accurately and within required timescales.

You will work with schools, education settings, parents and carers, young people and partner agencies, providing clear advice and guidance on SEN-related procedures and supporting the effective delivery of statutory functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and information on SEN statutory procedures, policies and best practice.
  • Respond to enquiries relating to SEN, using sound judgement and discretion.
  • Support parents, young people and their representatives so they can make informed decisions.
  • Undertake relevant casework to support SEN assessment and monitoring processes.
  • Assist the SEN Management Team in ensuring statutory functions are completed within required timescales.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records on SEN databases and relevant casework systems.
  • Support the monitoring of budgets and allocation of SEN resources.
  • Attend service meetings and ensure relevant information is accurately recorded and followed up.
  • Prepare agendas, minutes and reports for panels and SEN-related projects.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues and partner organisations.
About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • A good standard of education, including English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Experience of interpreting and applying complex processes and procedures when determining eligibility or entitlement to services.
  • Experience providing clear, concise advice on sensitive, difficult and confidential matters.
  • The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet demanding deadlines and performance targets.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work confidently with databases and Microsoft Office.
  • A calm, confidential and professional manner.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated and able to use initiative.
Desirable Experience

Experience within an education environment, previous experience providing advice relating to SEN, and proven competence using databases would be advantageous. Knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to education and special educational needs is also desirable.

Working Arrangements

This is a hybrid role, with the majority of work undertaken on site or through visits, alongside the opportunity to work from home depending on service requirements. The role may involve travel to different locations, so access to a vehicle and a full driving licence are required for occasional travel.

Compliance

An Enhanced DBS check, including the relevant Children s/Adults Barred List checks, is required for this position.

Why Apply Through We Do Social Work Recruitment?

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN professional to contribute to an important service supporting children, young people, families and education settings.

If you have experience in SEN casework, education administration or statutory education processes and are looking for your next opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
