Weston-super-Mare Band 6 Full-Time Locum
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) to join a Clinical Chemistry laboratory in Weston-super-Mare.
The successful candidate will carry out routine and specialist Clinical Chemistry testing, analyser operation, troubleshooting, quality control and result validation, while ensuring compliance with laboratory SOPs, ISO 15189, UKAS and professional standards.
Experience with Beckman Coulter analysers, Remisol middleware and WinPath LIMS is essential for this role.
Band 6 position.
Full-time hours.

Opportunity to work within an established Clinical Chemistry laboratory.

Support a high-quality diagnostic service within a clinical laboratory environment.
Support the daily operational management of the Clinical Chemistry department.
Perform routine and specialist Clinical Chemistry testing and result validation.
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and carry out quality checks on laboratory analysers.
Process diagnostic samples efficiently while meeting target turnaround times and prioritising urgent clinical work.
Authorise and release patient results in accordance with laboratory SOPs, quality standards and professional guidelines.
Participate in Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assessment (EQA) programmes.
Contribute to compliance with ISO 15189, UKAS and other relevant regulatory requirements.
Ensure accurate sample tracking, traceability and record management using WinPath LIMS.
Work collaboratively with laboratory colleagues, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to support patient care and service delivery.
HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist is essential.
Minimum Band 6-level experience within a Clinical Chemistry laboratory.
Strong hands-on experience in Clinical Chemistry.
Experience using Beckman Coulter DxC700 AU analysers.
Experience using Beckman Coulter DxI 800 analysers.
Experience using Beckman Coulter DxA Automation Track systems.
Experience using Remisol middleware.
Experience using WinPath LIMS.
Strong understanding of laboratory quality management systems, IQC, EQA and laboratory accreditation standards.
Understanding of ISO 15189 and UKAS requirements.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
