Our Offer to You

  • 26 days' holiday, rising to 28 days after 2 years' service and 31 days after 5 years' service (prorated for part time staff)
  • Option to buy up to 10 days of additional annual leave
  • A generous local government salary related pension
  • Up to 5 days of carer's leave and 2 paid volunteering days per year
  • Paternity, adoption and dependents leave
  • An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support health and wellbeing
  • Learning and development hub where you can access a wealth of resources
  • Wellbeing and lifestyle discounts including gym, travel, and shopping
  • A chance to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

About the Team

The Reablement Service is part of the Adults Wellbeing and Health Partnerships directorate. We are a multi-disciplinary team who provide short term support for up to 6 weeks to people, usually in their own homes, to promote independence and choice by helping them work towards their reablement goals as set out in their support plan. Our aim is to help improve people's quality of life, maximise long term independence and enable people to remain or return to live in their own home within the community.

We are an Occupational Therapy-led service, and our community workforce includes Occupational Therapists, Specialist Workers, Team Leaders, Integrated Reablement Workers and Reablement Assistants. All roles work in a way that seeks to improve people's lives by working on their strengths, rather than their weaknesses, and making use of the community and networks around them, as well as local authority-provided services.

We work closely with some private providers across Surrey who are part of our Collaborative Reablement Service (CRS). CRS is an extension of our Reablement Teams - by having CRS partners we have more capacity to support more Surrey residents.

About the Role

As a Reablement Team Leader you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day work of the team, to deliver a high-quality service in accordance with regulatory requirements. This will include triaging all cases needing reablement support and managing a small team of Reablement Assistants and Integrated Reablement Workers to support people to achieve their support plan goals. You will work alongside the Reablement Occupational Therapy team and wider Health and Social Care colleagues to deliver the best possible service to people we support.

You will work part of your hours on a rolling weekend rota and will work closely with Team Leaders in other areas to support the wider Reablement Service and co-ordinate staff rotas.

Shortlisting Criteria

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

  • The ability to develop and review reablement programmes to support people achieve independence
  • The ability to effectively line manage a diverse team
  • The ability to plan, manage and prioritise a caseload and seek guidance where necessary
  • The ability to work flexibly across an area to support staff and build local relationships with key partners
  • Competency in a range of IT skills

To apply, we request that you submit a CV and you will be asked the following 3 questions:

  1. Looking at our advert, and considering the Council's commitment to ensuring that "no one is left behind", please tell us what it is about the role that has motivated you to apply.
  2. Please tell us about the relevant experience or transferable skills you have that you can bring to this role?
  3. What three qualities do you have that would make you a good Reablement Team Leader and how do these qualities support Surrey County Council's culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and adaptability?

The job advert closes at 23:59 on 31/08/2026 with interviews to follow.

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation, moving from a two-tier system to two new unitary councils in April 2027. If you are employed by Surrey on 1st April 2027, your role will transfer with current terms and conditions to one of the new organisations, supporting local devolution and greater powers for our communities.

Join our dynamic team and shape the future of local government. Make a lasting impact with innovative solutions and improved services for our community. Help us build a brighter future for our residents!

Our Commitment

We are a disability confident employer which means if you have shared a disability on your application form and have evidenced you meet the minimum shortlisting criteria, as displayed on the advert, we guarantee you an interview.

Your skills and experience truly matter to us. From application to your first day, we're committed to supporting you with any adjustments you need, we value inclusion and warmly welcome you to join and help build a workplace where everyone belongs.
