Children's Social Work, Youth Offending Service Officer, Staffordshire Pay rate to £25.26 per hour Contract roles - Youth Offending Service / YJS / YOS Pertemps are recruiting for experienced Youth Offending Service Officer in Staffordshire. This to work within the SYOS in the Newcastle under Lyme area. Staffordshire Youth Offending Service (SYOS) operates as one of the Youth Offending Services across England and Wales and is an integral part of the Youth Justice System. Within Families First, SYOS is an integral part of the Early Help & Specialist Safeguarding Delivery Service, with the County Manager (SYOS) reporting directly to the Strategic Lead (Early Help, Specialist Safeguarding Delivery & Youth Offending Service) who provides management oversight and is line-managed by the Director of Families & Communities and Deputy Chief Executive, who reports directly to the County Council's Chief Executive Officer. The primary aims of the Youth Justice System are:

  1. a) Prevent offending
  2. b) Reduce re-offending
  3. c) Ensure the safe and effective use of custody
  4. d) Increase victim and public confidence
Key Accountabilities:
  1. Manage a full Youth Justice caseload including both statutory and non-statutory interventions. Work should be prioritisedin accordance withlevel of identified need of the child and wider community. This to be undertaken inline with Policies and Procedures, and all relevant Youth Justice National Standards and legislation.
  2. Plan, carry out andmonitorall activities required for individual children, young people and families to ensure that they achieve their assessed outcomes. This includes working directly with children and young people referred to SYOS, through a range of effective intervention strategies to prevent reoffending.
  3. Regularly review a child's progress against agreed aims. Utilise all information available including feedback from child and parent/careers during any such reviews. Ensure that individual plans are updated to reflect such reviews.
  4. Act as Court Officer, DutyOfficerand Appropriate Adult in line with Service requirements.
  5. Contribute to the development of Restorative Justice and devise and operate systems to ensure all Restorative Justice activity is completed in line with requirements.
  6. Maintain children's records in line with Directorate policies and procedures.
  7. Participate in regular supervision or consultation with the SYOS Operations Manager (Youth Justice), ensuring that they are always made aware of significant issues in children, youngpeopleand families.
  8. Provide high quality andtimelyassessments and reports (including PSR) in the agreed format for Courts, Referral Order Panels, Conferences, Statutory Reviews and any other forum as directed by the SYOS Operations Manager (Youth Justice).
  9. Work in partnership with colleagues within the Directorate and outside agenciesin order tosafeguard and achieve identified outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and families in their service area.
  10. Availability to work out of hours including evenings and weekends and to work flexibly (including the use of touchdown bases to support agile working)in order tomeet the needs of the Children and their families .
  11. Ensure the County Council's Human Resources policies and procedures are adhered to including attendance management, whistle blowing, bullying and harassment, grievances,capabilityand disciplinary issues.
  12. Ensure that the area of service is underpinned by adherence to the County Councils and statutory equality policies and gives due attention to issues of diversity.
