Social Work Improvement Lead

Children's Services Surrey

Make a Difference Where It Matters Most.

Are you an experienced and inspirational leader in children's social care, passionate about safeguarding children and improving outcomes for families?

We are looking for an exceptional Service Manager to lead our multi-agency Family Safeguarding Hub. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will shape decision-making at the front door of Children's Services, ensuring vulnerable children receive the right support at the right time through effective partnership working and strong professional leadership.

About the Role

As Service Manager, you will lead a highly skilled multi-agency team, working alongside colleagues from Children's Services, Early Help, Police, Health and wider safeguarding partners to ensure timely, effective and proportionate responses to concerns about children.

You will drive service performance, quality assurance and continuous improvement, creating a culture of excellence that delivers positive outcomes for children, young people and families. You'll also play a key role in developing innovative practice, embedding relationship-based approaches and strengthening partnerships across the safeguarding system.

Leadership & Resource Management

You will lead and develop a team of specialist professionals and advisors within the Family Safeguarding Hub, creating a culture of high performance, accountability and continuous improvement. Through effective leadership, coaching and support, you will empower teams to deliver excellent safeguarding outcomes for children and families. In addition, you will have responsibility for a staffing budget of approximately 1.5 million, ensuring resources are managed effectively to maximise service delivery and value for money.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a strategic and resilient leader who can:

  • Inspire, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Build strong and effective partnerships across agencies.
  • Lead services through change and continuous improvement.
  • Use performance and quality assurance information to improve outcomes.
  • Demonstrate sound professional judgement in complex safeguarding environments.
  • Champion relationship-based practice and strengths-based approaches with children and families

About You

You will be a qualified Social Worker with substantial management experience in statutory children's services and a proven track record of delivering high-quality services that improve the lives of children and young people. You'll bring excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills, alongside a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policy and practice

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to lead a critical service at the heart of children's safeguarding, influence strategic developments across the partnership, and make a lasting difference to the lives of children and families across Surrey.

If you're an ambitious and values-driven leader ready for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
