They are looking to appoint an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the leadership and day-to-day operation of a children's residential home. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious childcare professional looking to progress their management career while making a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
The Role
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the home delivers exceptional, child-centred care while maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the overall management and leadership of the home.
- Deputising for the Registered Manager in their absence.
- Leading, motivating and developing a team of Residential Support Workers.
- Promoting a nurturing, therapeutic and relationship-based approach to care.
- Ensuring safeguarding and the welfare of children remain the highest priority.
- Overseeing care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and accurate record keeping.
- Monitoring quality standards and driving continuous improvement.
- Supporting Ofsted inspections, audits and quality assurance processes.
- Building positive relationships with Local Authorities, social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and families.
About You
To be successful, you'll have:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve within the required timescales).
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working within a children's residential setting.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within residential childcare.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and the Children's Homes Regulations.
- Experience completing care plans, risk assessments and maintaining high-quality records.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A compassionate, resilient and child-focused approach.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Residential Support Worker.
- Experience supporting Ofsted inspections.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.
