Children's Home Registered Manager

Location: Redbridge, East London
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Lead a new home. Shape the culture. Help children thrive.

We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to join a growing children's residential care provider. The home is already Ofsted registered registered.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Manager or ambitious Deputy Manager to take ownership of a new service, establish a positive and therapeutic environment, and make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people.

You will have the opportunity to lead the opening and ongoing development of a new children's home based in Redbridge, East London.

The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing the home for opening, recruiting and developing a strong staff team, implementing high-quality care practices, and ensuring the service meets Ofsted and regulatory requirements.

Why Apply?

This is a senior leadership opportunity offering genuine influence over the development of a new children's home, its culture, routines and standards. You will have the opportunity to recruit and lead your own team while working within a child-centred organisation committed to delivering high-quality residential care.

The role offers a competitive salary of £60,000 to £65,000 per annum, alongside training, supervision, professional development and career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mobilisation, opening and ongoing development of a new children's home, taking overall responsibility for its operational management and leadership.

  • Establish a safe, nurturing, therapeutic and child-centred environment that promotes positive outcomes for children and young people.

  • Recruit, manage, supervise, coach and develop a skilled residential childcare team.

  • Lead preparations for Ofsted registration, maintain inspection readiness and ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, associated Quality Standards and safeguarding requirements.

  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring the welfare and safety of children and young people.

  • Oversee individual care plans, placement plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.

  • Implement effective quality assurance systems, audits, record-keeping processes and continuous improvement plans.

  • Manage staffing rotas, operational resources and day-to-day priorities to ensure the smooth running of the home.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, commissioners and other professionals.

You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of regulatory compliance, reporting and documentation, ensuring the home consistently delivers safe and effective care.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a children's residential care setting.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England), or willingness to work towards this qualification.

  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England), or equivalent.

  • Significant experience supporting children and young people within residential childcare, including supervisory or management responsibilities.

  • Experience of Ofsted inspections, Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 reporting, quality assurance, auditing and service improvement.

  • Eligibility and suitability for Ofsted registration as a Registered Manager.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, risk management, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

  • Flexibility to participate in on-call arrangements and work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends when required.

  • Full UK driving licence where required for the role.

Desirable Experience

Experience opening, mobilising or developing a new children's residential service would be particularly advantageous.

Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic care models is also desirable, alongside experience working collaboratively with local authorities, families, commissioners and multi-agency professionals.

Benefits

  • Company pension scheme.

  • Health and wellbeing programme.

  • Training, supervision and professional development opportunities.

  • Employee discount and store discount schemes.

  • Employee referral programme.

  • Company events, casual dress and on-site parking.

Safeguarding

Our client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including satisfactory references, verification of the right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check, including relevant barred-list checks where applicable.

How to Apply

If you are an experienced residential childcare professional looking for the opportunity to lead a new children's home and shape a high-quality service from the beginning, we would welcome your application.

Applications will be managed confidentially by our recruitment agency on behalf of the hiring organisation. Further information about the employer and service will be shared with suitable candidates during the recruitment process.
