Clinical Coder

Somerset, United Kingdom Monday-Friday working + NHS Pension

Clinical Coder - Advert

Mendip Vale Medical Group Sunnyside Surgery, Clevedon

Salary: £12.90 per hour (£26,832 FTE, based on a 40-hour week) Hours: 32 hours

About the role

We're looking for a methodical, detail-focused Clinical Coder to join our established coding team at Sunnyside Surgery. This is an administrative role rather than a clinical one; you won't be making clinical decisions, but the accuracy of your work directly supports patient safety, so it suits someone who takes real pride in getting the detail right.

You'll be working as part of a genuine team, not sitting alone with a queue of documents. New starters are paired with an experienced buddy so there's always one consistent person to go to with questions, and induction is structured to build your confidence gradually rather than expecting instant pace.

What you'll be doing

  • Coding electronic and paper correspondence and results accurately and consistently, in line with the Practice Read Coding Protocol
  • Using anatomical and physiological knowledge to apply the correct codes and link related information on a patient's record
  • Inputting patient information into clinical systems
  • Checking tasks and passing anything requiring clinical judgement on to the relevant clinician or pharmacy team
  • Keeping all patient files and records to the required quality standards, in line with information governance, GDPR and DPA regulations

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent experience), with evidence of continued learning or personal development
  • Experience working within an administration role
  • A track record of accurate, careful data recording
  • Good general IT skills, including Word, Excel, email and databases
  • Able to prioritise and manage competing demands while meeting deadlines
  • Tact and sensitivity, with the ability to build trust and confidence
  • Strong communication skills across different levels
  • Patient-focused, compassionate, resilient and flexible, with a genuine commitment to our values

Desirable:

  • Administration experience within the NHS
  • Experience with service improvement or clinical data
  • Familiarity with GP clinical systems such as EMIS
  • An understanding of medical terminology and basic anatomy and physiology
  • Self-directed, calm under pressure, and a strong team player

Why join us

  • A structured, supportive induction, with a dedicated buddy for your first months rather than being expected to pick things up alone
  • Genuine progression routes, including into a coding lead role, other admin positions, Patient Services Manager, or training as a Healthcare Assistant
  • A close-knit team environment with shared knowledge and support, rather than isolated desk-based work
  • Clear boundaries around the role. Nothing here requires clinical judgement, so you'll always know when and where to pass something on

Mendip Vale Medical Group is committed to equality and diversity, and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.

Next Steps
For further details on this exceptional role, please click the Apply Now button. If you can specify the best time to talk, please do; we will get in touch when it suits you best. You will then be contacted by one of our specialist consultants, who will provide you with further details about the role.

If you would like to talk ahead of sending us your CV, please give us a call on (phone number removed). Please note, any contact is in the strictest confidence and we will not send your details to any practice without your expressed consent to do so.

Is this role almost right for you, but not quite ticking all the boxes? If so, we have other roles available and can also work proactively to find you your perfect post.

We have been named as the Recruitment Firm of the year at the HealthInvestor Awards, Winners of the Professional Service Provider of the Year at the General Practice Awards, Winners of the Recruitment Award at the LaingBuisson Awards and named on the Recruiter Hot100 list, so in dealing with us you'll be in safe hands!

For every placement we make, Menlo Park plants two trees! We plant one on your behalf and the other on the surgery's behalf. By planting two trees we offset 0.6 tonnes of CO2, the equivalent of driving 1,466 miles in a standard car. We want to contribute towards helping save the planet!

NEW
Clinical Lead

Leicester

Permanent £45000.00 - £50000.00 Annual

Clinical Lead (RGN/RMN), Leicester 45,000- 50,000

Most clinical leads inherit someone else's system. You get to build yours.

Think about the last time you joined a home. The care plans were already written, the habits already set, and half your first year went on undoing things. This one's different.

This Leicester home is registering for nursing, which means its clinical standards are being set right now, by whoever takes this job. You'll sit alongside a new Registered Manager as their clinical right hand, shaping care planning, clinical governance, supervision and training from the ground up. You'll do about one 12-hour clinical shift a week; the rest is leadership.

It suits a nurse who's ready to step off the treadmill and into influence: someone who enjoys teaching as much as doing, and who would rather set the bar than chase it.

You'll bring:

  • An active NMC PIN.
  • Solid nursing home or complex care experience.
  • The confidence to lead other nurses and carers.
  • Working towards a Level 5 in Leadership and Management? Great; it's encouraged here.

You'll get: 45,000- 50,000, a real leadership role in a group that invests, and something few nurses can say: "I built that service."

Curious? Call me, Tim Roby at Recruitment Panda, or apply with a CV even if it's not up to date.

Recruitment Panda Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy. We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age.
