Dispensing Optician - Manchester - Exclusive Independent - £45,000

Greater Manchester, United Kingdom

Dispensing Optician Manchester City Centre Bespoke Styling Practice Up to £33,000 + Bonus Potential £12,000+

Some practices dispense glasses. This one choreographs an experience - the coffee, the music, the curated tray of frames chosen just for you - and has built one of the most talked-about reputations in the country doing it.

At a Glance

  • Dispensing Optician (Styling Consultant) role, Manchester city centre
  • Up to £33,000 salary + bonus potential exceeding £12,000
  • Full time, 9:00am-5:30pm, one full weekend off per month
  • No rushed dispenses - full styling consultations built around the individual

About the Opportunity

Zest Optical are working in partnership with one of the UK's most respected boutique styling practices, based in the heart of Manchester city centre.

This isn't a practice that dispenses off a rack. Every client goes through a full styling consultation - getting to know their lifestyle, their personality, what they actually want to feel like in a frame - before a tray of hand-picked options is curated just for them.

Every touchpoint is considered. The coffee is locally roasted. The music is chosen. The pace is unhurried. It's a service philosophy borrowed from the best names in hospitality as much as from optics, and it shows: a five-star reputation built on hundreds of genuine reviews, a client base that returns for decades, and a calendar that includes trunk shows, collection launches and team socials rather than just another week on the shop floor.

Opticians travel from across the UK and internationally just to see how this practice does what it does - this is very much the flagship for that way of working.

The Role

  • Lead full styling consultations - understanding a client's lifestyle, features and personal style before curating their tray of frames
  • Guide clients through a genuinely bespoke eyewear journey, not a transactional dispense
  • Build long-term relationships with clients who return again and again, often for years
  • Get involved in trunk shows, collection launches and events that showcase the practice's range
  • Work alongside a small, close-knit team who take real pride in the standard they deliver
  • Be part of a practice actively shaping what "best in class" looks like for the wider industry

What We're Looking For

  • GOC-registered Dispensing Optician
  • Someone who sees eyewear as identity and personal style, not just a prescription solution
  • A natural, warm communicator who can build genuine rapport quickly
  • Comfortable being coached to a very high service standard - this is closer to luxury retail or hospitality than a typical optical role
  • Genuine excitement at the idea of working somewhere this considered, rather than intimidated by it

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to £33,000
  • Bonus potential exceeding £12,000 per year
  • 9:00am-5:30pm, Monday to Saturday, with one full weekend off per month
  • Access to trunk shows, supplier events and industry-leading training
  • The chance to learn from a practice that other opticians travel to study

Interested?

This is a rare one, and it won't suit everyone - but for the right person, it's about as good as boutique optical gets in the UK.

Pharmacist Independent Prescriber

Kirkcaldy

Permanent £50000.00 - £65000.00 Annual

Pharmacist Independent Prescriber
Permanent, full-time (42.5 hours). Part-time considered.
Visa sponsorship available for suitable candidates (Skilled Worker route).

THE OPPORTUNITY

Dears Pharmacy is a 26-branch Scottish community pharmacy group operating across Fife, Lothian, Glasgow and Tayside. We are recruiting a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber to take a leading clinical role in one of our branches and to help expand the prescribing services we deliver to our communities.

This is not a dispensary-bound role. Our central automated dispensing hub at Lochgelly handles a substantial proportion of repeat volume, and our hub-and-spoke model is designed specifically to release pharmacist time from the bench and into the consultation room. If you have completed your independent prescribing qualification and want to actually use it, this is a role built around that.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

- Delivering NHS Pharmacy First Scotland and Pharmacy First Plus consultations, prescribing within your scope of practice
- Leading clinical service delivery in your branch, supported by a trained technician and support team
- Running and developing our private clinical services, including:
- Dears Ear: ear health assessment and microsuction using Tympahealth digital otoscopy, with prescribing intervention where clinically indicated
- Heart Check Scotland: point-of-care lipid testing and cardiovascular risk assessment using ASSIGN v2.0, with onward management and referral
- Menopause care: assessment and treatment in line with NICE NG23
- Weight management: structured, in-branch oral GLP-1 services with full clinical review and follow-up
- Managing patients under serial prescribing and supporting chronic medication service reviews
- Working alongside local GP practices and the wider primary care team on shared caseloads and referrals
- Contributing to clinical governance: SOP development, audit, significant event review and peer discussion
- Supporting and mentoring pre-registration trainees, foundation pharmacists and colleagues working towards their own prescribing qualification

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Essential:
- MPharm or equivalent, with current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Annotation as an Independent Prescriber on the GPhC register
- A defined scope of practice you are confident working within, and the judgement to know its edges
- Sound clinical reasoning, consultation and documentation skills
- Commitment to person-centred care and to the standards expected of a professional working in community pharmacy
- Right to work in the UK, or eligibility for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route

Desirable:
- Experience of NHS Scotland community pharmacy contractual services
- Experience delivering private clinical services or setting up a new service from scratch
- Ear microsuction training, or willingness to be trained
- Interest in a specific clinical area (cardiovascular, women's health, respiratory, travel health) that we can help you build a service around

WHAT WE OFFER

- Competitive salary reviewed annually, with a performance-related bonus scheme
- Protected consultation time and a dispensing model designed to give you it
- Funded training and CPD, including microsuction, PocDoc and service-specific clinical training
- Full indemnity cover and GPhC fees paid
- Genuine scope to design and lead new clinical services across a 26-branch group
- A clear route into senior clinical and management roles as the group's prescribing offer grows
- Company pension scheme
- Staff discount and Dears Plus membership benefits
- Supportive clinical leadership: our Pharmacy Director is herself an independent prescriber, and prescribing sits at the centre of our strategy rather than at the edge of it
