Children's Residential Support Worker

Contract: Permanent, full time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week on a rota, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in duties
Pay: £13.50 per hour, plus £50 per sleep-in
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for Children's Residential Support Workers. You will help provide a safe, nurturing home for children and young people, supporting their daily needs, development and individual care plans.
The role
- Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people and act as a consistent role model.
- Provide day-to-day care and support in line with individual care plans.
- Encourage education, activities, life skills, independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Help with cooking, shopping, budgeting, household routines and appointments.
- Recognise, report and record safeguarding concerns, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Complete accurate daily notes, incident reports and other care records.
- Work closely with colleagues, families, social workers and other professionals.
- Take part in handovers, meetings, training and care reviews.
The rota includes long-day shifts and sleep-ins. Typical patterns may include a 24-hour shift with a sleep-in from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am, or a 48-hour shift with two sleep-ins.
What we're looking for
Essential - Full UK driving licence.
- Access to a vehicle or a reliable way to travel to the home.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, resilient approach to challenging situations.
- A commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
- Flexibility to work the required rota.
Desirable - Experience supporting children or young people, particularly in residential care, social care or education.
- An understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches.
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an accepted equivalent.
If you do not already hold the required Level 3 qualification, you must achieve it within two years of starting the role. You will also complete the home's mandatory training programme.
