About the Role of Residential Support Worker, Adults
As a Residential Support Worker, you'll be part of a dedicated team supporting individuals with a range of needs to maintain their independence, develop daily living skills, and live fulfilling lives. Every interaction is a chance to promote dignity, encourage choice, and provide reassurance through consistent, respectful support.
This is a rewarding but responsible role, and we welcome applications from experienced practitioners as well as those new to adult social care who demonstrate the right values and potential to succeed.
What You'll Be Doing as a Residential Support Worker, Adults
- Providing high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence and wellbeing
- Building positive, appropriate relationships based on trust, respect and consistency
- Supporting individuals with personal care, activities, health appointments and life skills
- Contributing to a warm, welcoming, homely environment
- Following care plans, risk assessments and support strategies consistently
- Using positive approaches to support individuals who may experience distress or behavioural challenges
- Maintaining accurate, timely records and contributing to care planning and reviews
- Engaging respectfully with families, healthcare professionals, social workers and other partners
- Working towards your Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (if not already achieved)
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Willingness to work towards the Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care within an agreed timeframe
- Enhanced DBS check suitable for working with vulnerable adults
- Genuine motivation to support adults and make a positive difference
- Ability to build appropriate relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Willingness to work flexibly, including shifts, weekends and sleep-ins
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing
Desirable:
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience working within a regulated care environment
- Understanding of safeguarding adults, the Mental Capacity Act, and DoLS
- Full UK driving licence
