Senior Residential Support Worker
Location: Bacup, Lancashire
Contract: Permanent
Shift Pattern: 2 on / 4 off, including sleep-ins
Salary: £14.50 per hour
Sleep-In: £50 per sleep-in shift
Your Opportunity
We are recruiting for a small, supportive children s residential home in Bacup that provides high-quality, trauma-informed care to young people.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker who can provide exceptional care while taking greater responsibility for supporting the team and the day-to-day running of the home.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone already working within residential childcare who is ready to take the next step, or an established Senior Support Worker looking to join a close-knit and supportive organisation.
You ll lead by example, support colleagues on shift and help ensure young people receive consistent, safe and nurturing care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and support the effective day-to-day running of the home.
- Provide guidance and support to Residential Support Workers and less experienced team members.
- Provide a safe, nurturing and stable environment for young people.
- Support the physical, emotional, behavioural and developmental needs of the children in your care.
- Build positive relationships with young people and encourage independence and personal development.
- Support the implementation and review of individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
- Take an active role in safeguarding and ensure concerns are appropriately recorded and escalated.
- Support with daily routines, activities, appointments and contact arrangements.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and shift handovers.
- Ensure policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are followed consistently.
- Support the management team with the smooth running of the home and deputise where appropriate.
- Promote a positive, professional and supportive culture within the staff team.
About You
For this senior position, we are looking for someone who already has experience within children s residential care and understands the responsibilities that come with supporting vulnerable young people.
You ll need to be confident taking responsibility on shift, making appropriate decisions and supporting other members of the team.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience working within a children s residential care setting.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and the needs of young people in residential care.
- Experience following care plans, risk assessments and behavioural support strategies.
- Strong communication and written record-keeping skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions in challenging situations.
- Confidence supporting and guiding other members of staff.
- Flexibility to work a 2 on / 4 off shift pattern, including sleep-in duties.
Experience leading shifts or working at Senior Support Worker level would be advantageous.
