About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, professional and compassionate Healthcare Assistant / Receptionist to join our private urgent care clinic in Belfast.
This is a varied, patient-facing role combining clinical healthcare assistant responsibilities with reception and administrative duties. The successful candidate will be confident welcoming and communicating with patients, supporting the clinical team, carrying out basic clinical observations and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic.
Key Responsibilities
Reception & Patient Care
Warmly greet patients and visitors and provide a professional, welcoming experience.
Register patients and manage patient check-in and check-out.
Answer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries in a helpful and professional manner.
Book, amend and manage patient appointments.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
Process payments and assist with general administrative duties as required.
Liaise with clinicians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure an efficient patient journey.
Clinical Duties
Undertake initial patient triage and assessment, within your level of training and competence.
Record and document relevant patient information accurately.
Carry out routine clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturations and respiratory rate.
Perform ECGs following appropriate training and clinic procedures.
Support clinicians during patient assessments and treatments.
Prepare clinical rooms and equipment and ensure they are clean, stocked and ready for use.
Assist with basic clinical procedures within your scope of practice and training.
Recognise and escalate patients who may require urgent clinical assessment.
Follow appropriate infection prevention and control procedures at all times.

Essential / Desirable Experience
Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant, Medical Receptionist, GP Receptionist, Practice Assistant or similar healthcare role.
Experience of working in a clinical or patient-facing environment.
Knowledge of basic clinical observations and patient assessment.
Experience using ECG equipment and recording vital signs is desirable.
Previous experience of triage is desirable, with appropriate training and supervision provided where required.
Good IT and administrative skills.
Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and infection prevention and control.
