Community Engagement Officer Beaconsfield & Surrounding Areas

Location: Beaconsfield & surrounding areas
Hours: Part-time or Full-time hours per week
Salary: £25,000 per annum, pro rata
Start Date: ASAP flexible for the right candidate

About the Role

We are looking for a confident, proactive and personable Community Engagement Officer to join our client and help build strong relationships across Beaconsfield and the surrounding communities, including Gerrards Cross, the Chalfonts, Amersham, Bourne End and Marlow.

This is an exciting, highly visible and community-facing position suited to someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people, networking, developing relationships and creating new partnerships.

As Community Engagement Officer, you will act as an important link between the organisation and the local community. You will proactively engage with local businesses, charities, schools, community groups, councils and other organisations, developing a strong network of contacts and identifying opportunities for collaboration.

The successful candidate will be personable, confident and comfortable approaching new people. You should enjoy being out in the community, attending events and developing relationships rather than being based behind a desk all day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, charities, schools, community groups, councils and other stakeholders.

  • Proactively identify and develop new contacts throughout Beaconsfield and surrounding areas.

  • Attend local networking events, meetings, community activities and relevant functions.

  • Identify opportunities for partnerships, collaborations and community initiatives.

  • Organise, attend and support community events and engagement activities.

  • Develop a strong and active network of local contacts.

  • Promote awareness of the organisation and its work throughout the local community.

  • Gather feedback from community members and stakeholders and identify potential opportunities.

  • Maintain regular communication with existing contacts and ensure appropriate follow-up.

  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of contacts, meetings, conversations and activities.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop community engagement opportunities.

  • Represent the organisation professionally and positively at all times.

About You

The ideal Community Engagement Officer will be an excellent communicator with natural relationship-building skills. You will be confident starting conversations, introducing yourself to new organisations and developing professional relationships from scratch.

You should be proactive and comfortable working independently, managing your own diary and identifying opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you.

Strong organisational skills will be important, as you will need to manage multiple contacts, meetings, events and follow-up activities while ensuring relationships are maintained effectively.

Previous experience within community engagement, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, communications, networking, business development, account management or another outward-facing role would be advantageous.

You do not necessarily need to come from an identical role. We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, confidence, initiative and a genuine enthusiasm for working with people.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.

  • Confidence approaching and engaging with new people and organisations.

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach.

  • Good organisational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage relationships and follow up effectively.

  • Professional and positive communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a wider team.

  • Good knowledge of Beaconsfield and the surrounding areas would be beneficial.

  • Previous experience in a community, stakeholder, partnership, communications or relationship-focused position would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, as the Community Engagement Officer will regularly travel throughout Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, the Chalfonts, Amersham, Bourne End, Marlow and surrounding communities.

Hours & Flexibility

This position offers flexibility for candidates looking for either part-time or full-time employment, with hours available per week.

The salary is £25,000 per annum pro rata, depending on contracted hours.

The successful Community Engagement Officer will primarily work during normal working hours, although some flexibility will be required to attend occasional evening or weekend networking and community events.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of their local community and wants a varied role where no two days are exactly the same.

You will have the opportunity to develop valuable relationships, create new partnerships and become a recognisable representative of the organisation throughout the local area.

The preferred start date is ASAP, although this is flexible for the right candidate.

If you are an outgoing, organised and proactive individual who enjoys networking and bringing people together, we would love to hear from you about this Community Engagement Officer opportunity.
