Responsible To: Wellbeing Service Lead

Locations

Position 2 Based in our North STTT Team in Peterborough and Huntingdon hubs

This role requires working all site placement days from our Centre 33 hubs. It also requires regular travel into London to attend University teaching (Centre 33 will reimburse 50% of the cost of travel for study), and travel across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough as necessary.

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for two Trainee Children and Young People s Wellbeing Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary Someone To Talk To service at Centre 33.

In this role, you will develop skills for supporting young people s mental wellbeing and, alongside this, undertake nationally recognised training with Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families through University College London.

We have two vacancies for this role. One position will sit within our South STTT team based across Cambridge and Ely, and the second position will sit within our North STTT team based across Peterborough and Huntingdon. Both roles require some travel across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough as necessary. You will also be required to regularly travel efficiently to London for the purposes of course requirements.

The training forms part of the service transformation initiative delivered by NHS England as part of the Children and Young People s Mental Health CYP Psychological Trainings (PT) (formerly CYP IAPT) programmes, which aim to improve existing children and young people's mental health Services (CYP-PTs) working in the community.

About Centre 33

Centre 33 is an ambitious and growing charity based across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We offer a range of high-quality services to young people aged up to 25, including information and support on a drop in basis, mental health services, counselling, housing and financial advice, sexual health support and support for young carers.

Main Duties of the Job

You will study part-time for the Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice: Post Graduate Diploma , and your remaining hours will be spent working within our busy service, applying and developing the skills and knowledge you acquire in training to our client base.

Through the training course, you will be taught to deliver evidence-based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. You will also be taught how to deliver interventions in the community, for example, participation activities, training and group delivery. You will receive supervision to support your professional development, as well as be expected to actively engage local communities. You will complete assignments throughout the year to demonstrate these skills and build a clinical portfolio (requiring some independent study outside of role hours).

Within Centre 33, you will use the newly developed skills to deliver brief, evidence-based, goal-focused interventions to support young people aged experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. You will also provide some Guided Self-Help interventions to support parents of younger children aged 5 12 who experience anxiety and behavioural difficulties. This will include but is not limited to delivery of 121 case work, group work, workshops and webinars, as well as designing and producing psychoeducational resources using various media formats. Our blended offer at Centre 33 means you will be expected to work face to face and remotely via telephone and Zoom depending on individual client needs.

Additional Information

You will have a minimum of a second-class Bachelor s Degree from a UK University (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. Psychology) and evidenced experience of working with young people.

Shortlisted candidates will also need to be assessed for their eligibility to join UCL for a place on the PGDip in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice training programme.

Applicants will need to be ready to start work in early January 2027 and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date.
