Senior Physiotherapist Required for Private Hospital in Surrey

Temporary Staffing Agency (TSA Ltd) is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Acute Physiotherapist to join a well-established private hospital in Surrey on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled physiotherapist with experience across respiratory, cardiothoracic and orthopaedic services to work within a high-quality private healthcare environment, delivering outstanding patient-centred care.

The Role of an Acute Physiotherapist

We are seeking a confident and autonomous physiotherapist who can independently manage a varied caseload across:

  • Respiratory physiotherapy.
  • Cardiac surgery patients.
  • Thoracic surgery patients.
  • Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) patients.
  • Use of cough assist and other respiratory support techniques.
  • Elective orthopaedics, including joint replacements.
  • Day-case orthopaedic patients.
  • Spinal surgery patients.
  • Gynaecology patients.

You will work closely with consultants, nursing teams and allied health professionals to ensure patients receive the highest standard of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation throughout their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities of a Acute Physiotherapist

The successful candidate will deliver specialist physiotherapy assessments, treatment plans and rehabilitation programmes across a varied inpatient caseload. You will manage respiratory patients, including post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery cases, assess and treat patients within ITU settings, and utilise cough assist equipment and other respiratory physiotherapy techniques where clinically appropriate. The role will also involve supporting patients following elective orthopaedic procedures, including joint replacements, day-case surgery and spinal operations, as well as providing physiotherapy intervention for gynaecology patients when required. Working independently, you will effectively manage and prioritise a complex caseload while contributing to safe discharge planning and patient education. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation and working collaboratively with consultants, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes and deliver exceptional standards of patient care.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Significant post-registration experience within acute inpatient settings.
  • Proven experience managing respiratory, cardiothoracic and orthopaedic caseloads.
  • Competency in treating cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery and ITU patients.
  • Experience using cough assist equipment.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
