About the role

We're looking for a caring, enthusiastic Waking Night Senior Health Care/Support Assistant to join the team at Georgian House. You'll bring previous experience of working in a complex care environment and a genuine passion for delivering safe, dignified, person-centred care through the night.

No two nights are ever quite the same in a complex care setting, and the right candidate will be organised and confident in identifying each resident's needs, always promoting their independence and choice.

What you'll be doing

As Senior Waking Night, you'll manage the safe delivery of night-time care across the home, working closely with the Heads of Care and leading other Waking Night Care Assistants through mentoring, observation and hands-on support. You'll:

  • Carry out regular supervisions and hold recorded staff meetings
  • Oversee the safe administration of medication in line with policy
  • Support residents with all aspects of personal care, including bathing, toileting and getting up/dressed
  • Manage the shift to ensure high-quality care that meets CQC and Health & Safety standards
  • Help residents with evening routines, settling for bed, and getting up in the morning
  • Respond to personal care needs, health needs or emergencies as they arise, including offering medication if trained to do so
  • Stay awake, alert, and carry out regular night checks as required, recording these accurately
  • Ensure each resident's room is clean, tidy and safe overnight
  • Carry out domestic tasks between care duties, cleaning, laundry, ironing, updating records and preparing breakfast trays
  • Follow all relevant policies and procedures, helping create a warm, pleasant atmosphere for residents and colleagues alike

Training and development

We believe in supporting our staff to keep growing. All Waking Night Senior staff receive a full in-house training and development programme, including:

  • Extensive induction training
  • Specific training and qualifications suited to complex care needs
  • NVQ qualifications
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Training Manager

What we're looking for

  • Self-motivated, organised and reliable, with strong punctuality
  • Competent in medication administration
  • Proven experience leading a small team
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends when required
  • A confident communicator at all levels
  • Calm under pressure and in challenging situations
  • Computer literate, with strong report-writing skills
  • Experience working with people with mental health issues and complex needs is preferred but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills

Essential requirements

  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Two positive references
  • Enhanced DBS check
