Clinical Lead - OT or- SLT

London

Permanent £55000.00 - £65000.00 Annual

Clinical Lead - Occupational Therapist or Speech & Language Therapist

Paediatrics Flexible / Part-Time / Contract 55,000- 65,000 FTE

Overview

I'm recruiting for a Clinical Lead to join a new private therapy company that's in the early stages of developing its paediatric Occupational Therapy and Speech & Language Therapy services.

This is a genuinely different opportunity for an experienced OT or SLT who likes the idea of helping to build a clinical service from the beginning, rather than joining an established provision.

You'll have significant input into how the service operates, helping to develop the clinical framework, governance, processes, standards and culture as the company grows.

The client is flexible around how the role is structured and would consider someone joining part-time or initially on a consultancy/contract basis. This could therefore work alongside an existing clinical role for the right person.

The Role

As Clinical Lead, you'll lead the clinical development of the service, initially focused on paediatric provision within education settings.

You'll work alongside an established operational and commercial team, allowing you to focus on clinical leadership, quality and developing a service that therapists, schools and families can have confidence in.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the clinical design and development of the OT and SLT service model
  • Developing clinical pathways, SOPs, documentation and standards
  • Developing and overseeing the clinical governance, audit and quality framework
  • Establishing approaches to assessment, triage and caseload allocation
  • Developing clinical supervision, peer support and CPD arrangements
  • Providing clinical leadership and support to therapists
  • Providing clinical input into therapist selection, onboarding and competency
  • Developing standards for outcomes, reporting and EHCP-related work
  • Supporting quality assurance and peer review of clinical work
  • Leading on safeguarding and supporting clinical risk management
  • Working with schools and other stakeholders to understand their therapy needs
  • Working alongside the operational team to ensure new services are clinically appropriate, deliverable and properly resourced
  • Helping shape new services and the longer-term clinical direction of the company as it grows

The Clinical Lead won't be expected to personally provide profession-specific oversight outside their own area of expertise. As the service develops across both OT and SLT, appropriate profession-specific clinical expertise will be brought in where required.

Requirements

We're open to either an Occupational Therapist or Speech & Language Therapist who has:

  • HCPC registration
  • Strong paediatric experience
  • Experience working within education/SEND settings
  • Senior clinical experience, ideally at Band 7/8a level or equivalent
  • Experience providing clinical supervision
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance and safeguarding
  • Confidence working autonomously and making clinical decisions
  • An interest in service development and improving how therapy provision is delivered

Experience developing services, pathways, policies or clinical processes would be advantageous, but isn't essential. More important is having the clinical experience, leadership skills and ideas to help shape a new service.

What's on Offer

  • 55,000- 65,000 FTE, depending on experience and structure
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Part-time opportunities considered
  • Consultancy/contract arrangement considered initially
  • Opportunity for the position to grow alongside the service
  • Genuine influence over how the clinical provision is developed
  • Opportunity to build and lead a clinical team
  • Support from an established operational and commercial team

This could particularly suit an experienced clinician who has reached a senior level within an existing service and is looking for an opportunity to put their own ideas into practice and help shape something from the beginning.
