Team Manager to join
Thurrock Children's Services on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and develop a frontline team within a well-established service committed to delivering positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
Based in
Grays, Essex, the successful candidate will provide strong leadership, oversight and support to a team of social work professionals, ensuring high-quality practice, effective performance management and compliance with statutory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team delivering services to children and families across Children's Social Care.
- Ensure safe, effective and child-centred practice in line with legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures.
- Provide regular supervision, case oversight and professional support to team members.
- Monitor and drive performance against service objectives, quality standards and key performance indicators.
- Oversee case allocation and ensure robust plans are in place for all children and families.
- Identify and manage high-risk, complex and high-profile cases within the service.
- Chair meetings and represent Children's Services at multi-agency forums and partnership meetings.
- Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and strategic developments across the department.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and professional excellence.
Requirements:
- Social Work England Registration.
- Qualified Social Worker with substantial post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.
- Previous experience as a Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager or Advanced Practitioner with supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, children in need and statutory social work practice.
- Experience managing performance, supervision and service delivery within a local authority setting.
- Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
