Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 10am-6pm and Saturdays, 10am-4pm. Family Time sessions are typically 10am-2pm or 2pm-6pm, depending on the needs of the service.
Grade: 18.22 per hour

Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, in partnership with the London Borough of Harrow, is seeking caring, confident and responsible Contact Supervisors to support the Family Time service within Children and Young People's Services.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of working with children and families who wants to develop their knowledge and skills within a supportive environment. Training will be provided.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Family Time sessions between children, parents, siblings and other family members in accordance with the Family Time plan agreed by the allocated Social Worker and family.
  • Ensure Family Time sessions are conducted in the best interests of the child, particularly where children are subject to Child Protection Plans or are Looked After by the Local Authority.
  • Observe interactions between children and their families and produce clear, accurate written reports following Each session.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure all records are completed appropriately.
  • Develop positive working relationships with children, families, Social Workers, Family Time Coordinators and other professionals.
  • Recognise situations where action may be required in line with child protection procedures and immediately report concerns to the appropriate professionals.
  • Where necessary, terminate a Family Time session where this is required to protect the safety and welfare of the child.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness when working with families experiencing difficulties.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience of working directly with children and families is essential.
  • Experience of writing professional reports.
  • A caring approach and an understanding of children's needs.
  • Strong observation skills and the ability to accurately record interactions and events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with children, families and professionals.
  • Confidence and appropriate assertiveness when dealing with difficult or challenging situations.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate casework records.

Safeguarding Requirements:
This role involves working directly with children and young people under the age of 18. Successful candidates will therefore be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
