We Do Social Work Recruitment is working on behalf of a Local Authority to recruit an experienced SEND Officer (0 25) to join a dedicated Children s Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate professional with experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people aged 0 25, ensuring they receive the support they need to achieve positive educational outcomes and prepare for adulthood.
About the Role
As a SEND Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating Education, Health and Care (EHC) processes, working collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals and partner agencies to identify needs, develop high-quality plans and secure the right support for children and young people with SEND.
You'll manage a varied caseload, lead person-centred assessments and contribute to integrated working across education, health and social care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children and young people with SEND aged 0 25.
- Coordinate and undertake Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments.
- Draft and review high-quality, outcome-focused Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Work closely with families, schools, colleges and partner agencies to identify and meet individual needs.
- Lead and participate in multi-agency meetings.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to children, young people and their families.
- Support preparation for SEND Tribunal cases where required.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory timescales and safeguarding responsibilities.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Significant experience working with children and young people aged 0 25 with SEND.
- Strong knowledge of the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment process.
- Experience working within multi-agency environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory SEND responsibilities.
- An NVQ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
