About the Role

As the first person to join the service, you will have the autonomy and support to shape the home's culture, values and processes, ensuring safeguarding, compliance and outstanding care are embedded from the outset.

You'll be supported throughout the registration process by an experienced Responsible Individual, Director and specialist external consultancy, including guidance and mock Ofsted interview preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the children's home, ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements and safeguarding legislation.
  • Lead the Ofsted registration process and support the setup and development of the new service, including operational standards, resources and opening preparations.
  • Ensure the welfare, safety and development of children remains at the heart of everything the service delivers.
  • Support budget management, effective resource use and promote a strong health and safety culture for children and staff.

Skills, Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

  • A Social Work qualification, QCF Level 5 qualification, or currently working towards this.
  • Level 3 Children's Workforce Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare qualification, or willingness to enrol.
  • Minimum of 2 years residential childcare experience, with previous supervisory or management experience within a care environment.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements and best practice within residential childcare.
  • Experience leading, supporting and developing teams with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A passionate and driven individual who is committed to improving outcomes for children in care and creating a positive, supportive home environment.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.

The role

As Registered Children s Home Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, effective, compliant and financially responsible running of the home.

What we are looking for

You will need:

  • At least two years experience working in residential childcare within the last five years
  • At least one year s experience in a senior role, such as Team Leader or Deputy Manager
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People s Services, or a commitment to achieve it
  • Strong safeguarding and safer-care knowledge
  • A sound understanding of Ofsted and/or CIW regulations and inspection expectations
  • Experience leading, supervising and developing staff
  • The confidence to manage incidents, risk and crisis situations
  • Strong written, verbal and digital skills
  • Flexibility to support the needs of the service, including on-call, evenings and weekends where required
