About the Role

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker (Advanced Practitioner level) to join its Safeguarding & Support Team. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and respond to allocated safeguarding work in line with legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Undertake assessments in accordance with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
• Develop and implement family-led restorative plans based on assessed needs.
• Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, and partner agencies.
• Promote participation and partnership working with children and their families.
• Complete regular reviews of plans, recording outcomes and updating interventions accordingly.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic and manual case records.
• Prepare detailed reports for statutory reviews, child protection conferences, panels, and court proceedings.
• Participate actively in supervision, performance management, and professional development activities.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Significant experience working within Children's Safeguarding Services.
• Strong experience managing:
  • Child Protection cases
  • Children in Need cases
  • Court work
• Ability to work effectively within a restorative practice framework.
• Experience handling complex caseloads.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.

Social Workers required as an Advanced Practitioner. for work within the Adults safeguarding Team in the beautiful Devon area. Based in Tavistock Rates up to 41ph. 3 month minimum contract. Flexible, hybrid working arrangements. Required to be in the office 2.5 days per week.

Candidate must be:

Social Worker.
At least 5yrs post qualifying experience.
Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding, Mental Capacity Assessments, Best Interests, Deprivation of Liberty, Care Act 2014 - Good legal literacy.
Able to provide comprehensive and effective management skills and supervision to the team.
Able to manage the day to day waiting lists and reviewing function.
Able to provide support and guidance to the team and duty function.
Be able to deputise for team manager as required.

Ability to respond promptly, carry out proportionate assessment and recording, working closely with community colleagues and health partners as required. Skills in Mental Capacity Assessment, establishing Best Interests and safeguarding.

You will be Social Work England registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK

Social Worker Assessment Team - Wigan Council

Location: Wigan
Pay/Salary: up to £40 per hour

We are currently working with Wigan Council to find an experienced Advanced Practitioner for their Duty and Assessment Team within Children s Services. With a stable management team and a mostly permanent workforce, Wigan are looking for someone with solid experience to be able to pick up a caseload. The Duty service is fast paced service consisting of 5 duty teams. Each team has a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, Senior Social worker and 6 Social Workers. You will be on duty once every 5 weeks.

Duties

• Carry out needs led child focused assessments
• Hold a small, but complex caseload of single assessments (S17) and S47 investigations (this includes opportunities for co-working to support less experienced practitioners)
• Participate in the duty system, responding to safeguarding concerns
• Prioritise demand and make effective use of time
