About the Role
Peterborough City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join its Children with Disabilities Team. This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with complex needs, helping to safeguard their wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes for them and their families.
Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you will manage a varied caseload, undertake statutory assessments and interventions, and support children through key stages of their journey, including transitions into adulthood.
This is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office. Successful candidates must also be able to travel to Peterborough at short notice to respond to urgent situations and crises.

The Role
As part of the Children with Disabilities Team, you'll work with children and young people with complex needs, ensuring they receive the right support to achieve the best possible outcomes. You'll manage a varied caseload, undertaking statutory responsibilities while working closely with families and partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children with disabilities, including Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children where applicable.
Complete statutory assessments, care planning, reviews, and risk assessments.
Develop and implement outcome-focused care plans.
Work collaboratively with health, education, and multi-agency professionals.
Ensure all case recordings and reports are completed to a high standard and within statutory timescales.
Build positive relationships with children, young people, and their families to promote positive outcomes.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Previous experience within a Children with Disabilities Team or frontline childrens services.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and SEND framework.
Ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
