Key Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Ward Manager when required and take responsibility for the smooth running of shifts.
  • Support, supervise and mentor junior nurses and student nurses, creating a positive learning environment.
  • Provide clinical support for patients with complex needs, including appropriate escalation and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with professional and clinical standards.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, incident reviews, quality improvement initiatives and the development of policies and care pathways.
  • Promote effective infection prevention, safeguarding, risk management and governance practices.
  • Support ongoing service development and evidence-based improvements to clinical practice.
  • Maintain professional accountability in line with the NMC Code and contribute to a safe, positive and patient-focused working environment.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse with strong clinical knowledge and the confidence to lead a team.

You will have:

  • NMC Registered Nurse (RGN) qualification with at least 2 years' post-registration experience.
  • Previous orthopaedic or surgical nursing experience is essential.
  • Recognised mentorship/Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience leading a clinical team, managing workloads and coordinating shift operations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to continued professional development.
  • A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
  • The flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
  • A strong commitment to clinical excellence, governance and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Benefits

  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 31 days with length of service.
  • Private Medical Insurance (BUPA) for staff working over 30 hours per week.
  • Westfield Health Cash Plan.
  • Pension: 3% employee and 6% employer contribution, with salary sacrifice available and employer National Insurance savings paid back into the pension.
  • Pension adviser available on site.
  • Free onsite parking and lunch.
  • Free onsite gym.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Family-friendly carers policy.
  • Menopause support and women's health services available onsite.
  • Free eye tests.
  • Long-service awards.
  • Annual guaranteed salary uplift and benchmarking each July.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a modern private healthcare environment where you can utilise your clinical expertise, develop your leadership skills and play an important role in delivering excellent patient outcomes.

If you are an experienced Registered Nurse with orthopaedic or surgical experience and are ready to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you.
