About us:

Daniel Yorath House is a Brainkind specialist neurological care centre based in Leeds, providing innovative neuro rehabilitation and person centred support to enable people to thrive after brain injury.

The ideal candidate must be a HCPC registered physiotherapist and have neurological, respiratory and management experience at a Senior (Band 7 equivalent) level.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of staff within the service and provide support to staff as required
  • To provide on-site leadership for the team and take an active role in service developments through the use of service user participation strategies, peer review, audit, and evaluation of outcome measures
  • Responsible for overseeing service delivery from referral to discharge to ensure treatment programmes are planned and delivered effectively
  • To maintain an awareness of the caseloads of the team to ensure the most effective and efficient service is provided.
  • To be responsible for leading clinical governance activity within the team with regard to clinical risk management and for implementing clinical governance policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring a high standard of service, delivered within local and national guidelines and within the resources available. To ensure documentation produced by other members of the team is in line with professional and Brainkind standards
  • To be responsible to chair interdisciplinary team meetings and review meetings as appropriate
  • To work with other professionals in managing operational issues of services which cross organisational boundaries
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy intervention to meet the assessed needs of service users
  • To monitor attendance of mandatory and other required training for members of team
  • To improve own and others research and development skills through participation in audit projects

About you:

  • Suitable applicants will have a degree/diploma within physiotherapy and be HCPC registered.
  • Relevant post-registration training and experience and relevant leadership experience and training in a health/social care setting
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Proven experience of working in an appropriate service across healthcare settings
  • Experience of working with clients with moderate to advanced neurological disease and disability
  • Demonstrable experience of evidence-based practice, research, audit and outcome measures
  • Highly specialist knowledge and application of neurological therapy assessments and interventions using complex level clinical reasoning. Seating and postural care experience desirable and respiratory competency essential
  • Evidence of managing a team of staff including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues

To undertake evidence-based audit and research activities to enhance personal and team clinical practice, identifying opportunities for improvement and making recommendations to the Clinical Lead or Service Manager. You will also support the implementation of agreed changes and contribute to the development of relevant service protocols.

To participate in the 7-day working roster, including evening, weekend and bank holiday emergency on-call duties as required. You will provide emergency respiratory care outside normal working hours as part of the designated on-call service.

To provide specialist respiratory physiotherapy support during emergency on-call periods, including offering appropriate clinical advice to medical, nursing and other healthcare professionals regarding patients respiratory and chest conditions.

To assess and manage clinical risks within your allocated workload, ensuring appropriate measures are taken to promote patient safety. You will regularly review patient outcomes and make appropriate modifications to planned interventions where required.

To establish appropriate prognoses and agree meaningful treatment goals with patients, contributing to comprehensive discharge planning based on clinical findings and expected outcomes. You will ensure valid informed consent is obtained and work within the appropriate legal framework when patients lack capacity.
