Our Client, Tameside Council, is seeking an experienced Children's Social Worker to join their EDT Team.

Responsibilities of this role:

  • To be an active EDT member delivering emergency services 'out of hours' to the most vulnerable service user groups, primarily public protection, children and families, community care, criminal justice services and mental health.
  • To prioritise referrals, defining emergency situations in accordance with Council values, strategic objectives and best professional practice.
  • To positively contribute to the functioning of a specialist Social Work team which operates with a high level of professional autonomy.
  • To provide advice to Social Work colleagues and colleagues in other agencies, on the nature and extent of emergency services which may be on offer.
  • To facilitate understanding and learning of the nature of EDT tasks among Social Workers who undertake back-up duties.
  • To oversee when necessary, the work undertaken by Social Workers who undertake back-up duties.
  • To investigate complaints of neglect, abandonment or ill treatment of children and adults and take appropriate action which may include referring to appropriate agencies or colleagues.

Requirements of this role:

  • Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
  • Must have a Social Work qualification (Diploma in social work, social work degree or equivalent)
  • Must have minimum of 3 years permanent experience working as a Qualified social worker
