Empower Young People to Thrive

TimePlan Education is seeking compassionate and motivated SEN Support Workers to join a specialist residential service in Uffculme, supporting profoundly deaf young people to live fulfilling, independent lives.

This is an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact. Working within a specialist residential home, you'll play a vital role in supporting young people with their daily routines, personal development, and social engagement in a safe and nurturing environment.

About the Role

As an SEN Support Worker, you'll provide practical and emotional support to young people with complex communication needs, helping them build confidence and independence while promoting their wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting young people with daily living tasks and routines.
  • Encouraging independence and developing life skills.
  • Providing emotional reassurance and building trusting relationships.
  • Assisting with leisure activities, education, and community participation.
  • Supporting attendance at Deaf community events and activities.
  • Working closely with colleagues and other professionals to deliver person-centred care.
  • Helping to maintain a positive, safe, and welcoming residential environment.

Specialist Communication

The young people in this service are profoundly deaf and primarily communicate using British Sign Language (BSL), alongside AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices and visual communication methods.

Previous BSL experience is welcomed but is not essential, as full training and opportunities to develop your signing skills will be provided.

The home is equipped with specialist technology to support residents, including adapted fire alarm systems, vibrating alert equipment, communication technology, and visual support systems.

What We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a caring, patient, and positive approach.
  • Are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Have experience in care, education, residential support, or a similar role (desirable).
  • Have some knowledge of BSL, or are keen to learn.
  • Can work well as part of a team and use your initiative.
  • Are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.

What You'll Receive

  • Competitive pay of 13.19 - 13.81 per hour
  • 32 Sleep-in payment (where applicable)
  • 40-hour working week with day shifts
  • Temporary to permanent employment opportunity
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
  • Funded BSL learning and CPD opportunities following probation
  • Excellent career progression within a specialist service
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference every day
