5S Recruitment are working with a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business within the plastics sector who are actively seeking to recruit an experienced Moulding Technician to support their growing production and technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Injection Moulding Technician or experienced Moulding Technician to join a fast-paced and technically driven manufacturing environment where process stability, quality standards and continuous improvement are heavily valued. The successful Moulding Technician will play a key role across production, tooling support, machine start-ups, process optimisation and technical problem-solving activities whilst working closely alongside Process Engineers, Toolmakers and Production personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out mould changes, mould mounting and mould setup activities safely and efficiently in line with production requirements.
  • Piping moulds including water, hydraulics and associated services ready for production and sampling activities.
  • Supporting process optimisation activities with a strong focus on cycle time improvements, scrap reduction and process consistency.
  • Restarting injection moulding machines, robots and automation systems following stoppages and documenting downtime causes accurately.
  • Purging screws and barrels in accordance with company purging procedures and work instructions.
  • Supporting validation activities involving moulds, equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Working closely with Toolmakers, Quality Engineers, Process Engineers and Production staff to resolve technical and processing issues.
  • Assisting with tooling trials, process development work and sampling requirements where required.
  • Completing routine process checks throughout shift with a strong emphasis on machine performance, quality standards and production outputs.
  • Carrying out basic robot and core programming following internal training and competency sign-off.
  • Monitoring machine performance and escalating recurring faults or process concerns appropriately.
  • Carrying out basic maintenance and troubleshooting activities on peripheral and ancillary equipment including dryers, temperature controllers and conveyors.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities across the moulding department to improve efficiency, reduce downtime and improve overall manufacturing performance.
  • Maintaining high housekeeping and 5S standards across the production environment.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with company Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Supporting close team-working activities across production and technical departments.
  • Completing any additional duties as reasonably requested by Company Management.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Moulding Technician, Injection Moulding Setter, Injection Moulding Technician or Process Technician within an injection moulding environment.
  • Strong understanding of injection moulding processes, machine start-ups and technical troubleshooting activities.
  • Experience carrying out mould changes and process adjustments within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with robots, automation and ancillary equipment would be advantageous.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach towards manufacturing and technical problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Flexible attitude towards rotating shifts and manufacturing demands.
  • Positive attitude towards continuous improvement, process optimisation and operational performance.
