Teaching Assistant (Autism Base & Mainstream Support) Location: Yate area, South Gloucestershire Contract Type: Full-time / Term-time (flexibility may be considered) Start Date: September 2026 We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Yate area, who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role involves supporting students within the school's autism base, as well as helping in mainstream classrooms. Graduates have previously worked extremely well in this environment, especially those who are keen to develop their skills before stepping into teaching. You will play a key role in helping students access the curriculum, develop social and emotional skills, and build confidence in a supportive learning environment. The position is ideal for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. Key Responsibilities: - Provide tailored support to students with autism within the ASD base - Assist students in mainstream lessons to ensure full participation and engagement - Work closely with teaching staff and the SEN department to implement support strategies - Support students with social interaction, communication, and emotional regulation - Help create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment Requirements: - Previous experience working with children or young people with autism (experience with autistic adults will also be considered) - A good understanding of autism and associated needs - Right to work in the UK - An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) - Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
