What you will do:

  • Lead shifts and provide inspiring day-to-day supervision of care staff, ensuring consistent and safe care delivery.

  • Assist in the implementation and review of personalised care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies tailored to individual needs.

  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment to support children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

  • Manage incidents, safeguarding concerns, and challenging behaviours with confidence, ensuring all appropriate reporting and follow-up are completed.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

  • Willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management

  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Registration & Compliance:

  • Knowledge of Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and safeguarding children frameworks

  • Understanding of the Care Standards Act 2000

  • Enhanced DBS clearance

Key Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and young people

  • Understanding of behaviour management and therapeutic approaches

  • Effective communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to remain composed and make decisions in challenging situations

Experience:

  • Experience working within a children's residential care setting

  • Experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs

  • Previous experience in a senior support or team leader role (desirable)

  • Experience working within Ofsted-regulated services (advantageous)
