Optical Assistant (Full-Time) - Independent Practice
Location: Richmond, London
Salary: 28,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (with one weekday off)
About the Role
Inspired Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced and confident Optical Assistant to join a practice that has been newly acquired by independent group of opticians. The practice is based near to Richmond. Now part of a respected independent optical group, the practice continues its tradition of clinical excellence while introducing new services and technologies to better serve our patients.
This is a full-time, permanent position with Saturday working required, and one day off during the week.
With two fully equipped test rooms, the practice currently runs clinics four days a week and will be expanding into audiology services from November. We're looking for someone who thrives in a customer-focused environment and is confident in handling patient journeys from start to finish.
YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 2-YEARS EXPERIENCE WORKING WITHIN AN OPTICIANS.

Key Responsibilities
" Deliver a welcoming and professional experience for all patients
" Support the smooth running of the clinic, including pre-screening and admin duties
" Dispense a wide range of frames and lenses accurately and confidently
" Provide clear, thorough handover communication between front-of-house and clinical staff
" Maintain an excellent standard of product knowledge to advise patients effectively
" Assist with general practice duties, including stock management and appointment booking
" Uphold the values of a truly independent, patient-first practice
" Support the integration of audiology services in late 2025
What We're Looking For
" A minimum of 2 years' experience working in an optical practice (independent experience preferred)
" Candidates with a Specsavers-only background will not be considered for this role
" Strong dispensing skills with a patient-centred approach
" Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
" Confident, proactive, and organised with strong attention to detail
" Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team
" Experience delivering smooth and effective handovers between reception and clinical staff
" Willingness to support additional services such as audiology
