Registered Manager - New Children's Residential Home
Location: Peterborough Salary: £55 - 65k MD2 Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Registered Manager to lead a lovely new children's residential home in Peterborough.
Designed for a
solo placement, this is a warm, welcoming and genuinely homely setting, offering the opportunity to build a service centred around the individual needs of one child or young person.
The home is not yet Ofsted registered. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing the service for registration and opening, shaping its culture, recruiting a team and establishing high standards of care from the outset.
The role
- Lead the preparation of the home for Ofsted registration, working closely with the provider and Responsible Individual.
- Establish effective policies, safeguarding procedures and working practices.
- Recruit, support and develop a caring, skilled staff team.
- Create a safe, nurturing environment where a child or young person can feel secure, valued and listened to.
- Oversee individual care planning, risk assessments and placement preparation.
- Build positive relationships with families, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
- Manage the day-to-day running of the home once registered and operational.
- Monitor the quality of care and promote continuous improvement.
About you
- Experience in a management or leadership role within children's residential care.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted expectations and the Children's Homes Quality Standards.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or a relevant equivalent.
- A compassionate, child-centred approach and the ability to lead by example.
- Confident in developing a team and establishing a new service.
- Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
Previous experience supporting a new home through registration would be particularly valuable. Experienced Deputy Managers ready to progress into their first Registered Manager role are also encouraged to apply.
