Early Support Officer - Adult Social Care

Location: Civic Centre, Wolverhampton
Pay Rate: 15.56 per hour
Contract: temporary
Start Date: As soon as possible
Positions Available: 3

Make a Difference Through Early Intervention

City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking three proactive and compassionate Early Support Officers to join the Adult Social Care Early Support Service.

This rewarding role focuses on helping adults and carers access the right support at the right time, preventing, reducing or delaying the need for long-term care and support services. Working within a strengths-based approach, you will empower people to maximise their independence, build confidence and remain active members of their communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in health, social care, community support or related services who are passionate about improving outcomes for local residents.

About the Role

As an Early Support Officer, you will work directly with adults and carers, providing timely, personalised and outcome-focused support. You will help people identify their strengths, understand their options and access services, community resources and networks that enable them to live independently.

You will work closely with colleagues across Adult Social Care, health services, voluntary organisations, community groups and families to ensure people receive the support they need to achieve their goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting adults and carers to maintain independence, choice and control
  • Providing strengths-based advice, guidance and practical support
  • Helping prevent or delay escalating care and support needs
  • Connecting people to community resources, services and support networks
  • Supporting individuals through challenging situations with responsive short-term interventions
  • Working collaboratively with partner agencies and multidisciplinary teams
  • Managing a varied caseload and maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting crisis responses and safeguarding processes when required
  • Promoting social inclusion, equality and positive outcomes for individuals and carers
  • Contributing to service development and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working within health, social care, community support or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • A person-centred and strengths-based approach to supporting people
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Confidence building relationships with a range of professionals, individuals and carers
  • Strong IT and record-keeping skills

Essential Requirements

  • Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to attend the office regularly
  • Availability to start as soon as possible
  • Ability to complete all required compliance and pre-employment checks promptly

Working Arrangements

While there may be opportunities for hybrid working, successful candidates should expect to work predominantly from the Civic Centre, Wolverhampton, during the first four weeks of employment.

This induction period is designed to support:

  • Team integration
  • Learning and development
  • Management support and supervision
  • Building knowledge and confidence within the role

Following induction, working arrangements will be considered in line with service needs and manager discretion.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive pay rate of 15.56 per hour
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact within Adult Social Care
  • Valuable experience working within a forward-thinking local authority
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for learning and development
  • Potential for contract extension, subject to service requirements and funding

This is an exciting opportunity to join a service committed to helping people live independently, remain connected to their communities and achieve the outcomes that matter most to them

If you do not hear back in 5 working days your application has not been successful.
