Location: Ulster Hospital
Salary: £19.78 per hour
Hours: Full-time / Part-time (Minimum 30 hours)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Band 6 Radiographer to join our imaging team at Ulster Hospital.

The post holder will:

Deliver a high-quality, evidence-based CT service
Demonstrate a strong understanding of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
Participate in a 7-day working rota
Support the supervision and training of junior staff, assistant practitioners, and student radiographers
Undertake a structured CT training programme (if required), demonstrating flexibility and commitment to professional development

Key Duties and Responsibilities Operational Delivery

Perform a wide range of CT and general radiographic examinations to a high diagnostic standard
Demonstrate competence in CT imaging procedures and assist with interventional imaging where required
Make informed clinical decisions based on professional knowledge and experience
Work closely with the CT Lead Radiographer to support workflow and daily operations
Assess patient understanding and obtain informed consent, adhering to legal frameworks where patients lack capacity
Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, and carers, ensuring individual needs are met
Comply with:
- Ionising Radiation Regulations (NI) 2017
- Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (NI) 2018
Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of imaging equipment
Oversee the ordering and management of medicines/drugs in line with Trust policy, including countersigning where required
Uphold a high standard of clinical practice and professionalism
Participate in audit, reflective practice, and risk management to maintain service quality

Essential Criteria Experience

Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in a hospital setting with modern imaging modalities, including CT
At least 1 year of experience in CT imaging, covering a broad range of examinations

Qualifications and Registration

Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc in Radiography, or equivalent qualification recognised by the HCPC
Current HCPC registration

- Shift rota / on-call / out-of-hours work
